ETFs representing financials and REITs (real estate investment trusts) have not only seen breakouts in absolute terms, but also in relative terms versus the S&P 500 Index (SPX). This is a departure from the lackluster trends we’ve seen in these sectors for much of this year, and it suggests that they’ll exhibit relative strength as breadth continues to expand.
